Photoshop Elements Boot Camp!
Updated! for Spring 2017
Our 9th Year at Stewart Hall!
A 5 night intensive workshop!
Tuesday May 9 to Thursday May 18, 2017
13 hours over 5 nights
Pointe Claire Cultural Centre - Stewart Hall
176 chemin Bord-du-Lac / Lakeshore Road
This intensive, 13-hour workshop over five evenings, is designed for digital photographers who wish to learn the fundamentals of how to process and print their images, send them over the internet, or upload photos to social media, using a photo editing software - in this case Photoshop Elements versions 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15.
Opening any image program can be intimidating at first. Fifteen years ago, when I first started using Microsoft Photo Editor, then later Adobe Photoshop 5, my stunned reaction to all the choices was YIKES! ...where do I go from here!
In a LIVE step-by-step process, participants will use their computers in class, learning how to open new files, then easily adjust the brightness, colour and saturation with various corrective tools. Layers will be demonstrated for non-destructive editing, how to add borders and type, create collages and black & white images, using actions to automate work, plus a few special effects; before resizing, sharpening, and saving - your new image.
One finished project will be assigned with helpful critique and tips provided.
Adobe Photoshop Elements is an image editing software with unlimited possibilities for photographers, artists and creative persons alike. I hope you will attend this workshop to learn how to get started, and to hone your skills... on this wonderful adventure!
One Session only, over 5 evenings
Tuesday to Thursday - May 9, 10, 11 and
Wednesday & Thursday - May 17 & 18, 2017
Recommended for Beginners to Intermediate.
Bring your laptop for LIVE demonstrations and image processing.
This workshop is presented mostly in English.
Questions answered in English and French.
Maximum class size: 10
A Resource List with recommended books and websites, keyboard shortcuts, a worksheet, flowchart, and more are included for further guidance and training.
During this workshop, four sample images on a USB key will be supplied for LIVE simultaneous hands-on training. One finished project will be assigned with helpful critique and tips provided.
Participants are encouraged to bring their laptop computers to class, pre-loaded with one of the five versions of Photoshop Elements 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15. This software may be purchased at Costco, Bureau-en-Gros, Best Buy, or on-line at Staples.ca, Amazon.ca, Adobe.com and other on-line retailers.
NOTE: If you recently purchased a new camera, older versions of Photoshop Elements may not work with your camera. All will be explained in class!
TIP: The English software version is easier to use than the French version, due to translation problems with technical terms, and the lack of resource books. Menus in the French version are also more difficult to understand, such as "Flatten Image" (under the Layers menu).
Depending upon the Photoshop Elements software version you're using, I recommend the purchase of any one of these five excellent tutorial books by authors Scott Kelby & Matt Kloskowski, for use during the workshop and to learn all the features of this unique program. Buy locally at either Chapters or Indigo Books, or online at Amazon.ca
