Photoshop Elements Boot Camp!

Mastering Photoshop's amazing image editing tools!

Our 10th Year at Stewart Hall!

Updated! for Spring 2018

Starts: Monday May 14 to Thursday May 24, 2018

13 hours over 5 nights
Pointe Claire Cultural Centre - Stewart Hall
176 chemin Bord-du-Lac / Lakeshore Road

This intensive, 13-hour workshop over 5 evenings, is designed for digital photographers who want to learn how to effectively process and print their images, send them over the internet, or upload photos to social media, using a photo editing software - Adobe's Photoshop Elements versions 11 to 15 or Elements 2018.

Opening any image program can be intimidating at first. Sixteen years ago, when I first started using Microsoft Photo Editor, then later Adobe Photoshop 5, my stunned reaction to all the choices was YIKES! ...where do I go from here!

In a LIVE step-by-step process, participants will use their computers in class, learning how to input and open new files, then easily adjust the brightness, colour and saturation with various corrective tools. Layers will be demonstrated for non-destructive editing, how to add borders and type, create black & white images, using Actions to automate work, plus a few special effects; before resizing, sharpening, and saving - your new image.

One finished project will be assigned with helpful critique and tips provided.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is an image editing software with unlimited possibilities for photographers, artists and creative persons alike. I hope you will attend this workshop to learn how to get started, and to hone your skills... on this wonderful adventure!

Handouts and a Resource List with recommended books and websites, keyboard shortcuts, a worksheet, Photoshop flowchart, and more are included for further guidance and training.

During this workshop, four sample images on a USB key will be supplied for LIVE simultaneous hands-on training. TWO finished projects will be assigned with helpful critique and tips provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring their laptop computers to class, pre-loaded with a Photoshop Elements version compatible with their camera, from Elements 11 to 15 or the latest, Photoshop Elements 2018. This software may be purchased at Costco, Bureau-en-Gros, Best Buy, or on-line at,, and other on-line retailers. Prices vary, so shop carefully!

NOTE: If you recently purchased a new camera, older versions of Photoshop Elements may not work with your camera's software, so make sure yours is up to date. Confused? All will be explained in class!

TIP: The English software is easier to use than the French version, due to translation problems with technical terms, and the lack of resource books. Menus in the French translation are more difficult to understand, such as "Flatten Image" (under the Enhance menu).

Depending upon the Photoshop Elements software you're using, I recommend purchasing one of the excellent tutorial books listed below, by authors Scott Kelby & Matt Kloskowski for use during the workshop. With printed screen saves and step-by-step instructions, learning all the features of this unique program is much easier!

Buy locally at either Chapters or Indigo Books, or online at for the software version you are using. Examples are:

The Photoshop Elements 2018 Book for Digital Photographers
The Photoshop Elements 15 Book for Digital Photographers
The Photoshop Elements 14 Book for Digital Photographers
The Photoshop Elements 13 Book for Digital Photographers
The Photoshop Elements 12 Book for Digital Photographers

Cost for this FIVE night workshop is $ 120.00 (taxes incl)
