He had a twinkle in his eye!

Visiting the enchanting, historic seaside town of Bodo, he was standing just outside a small store near the town hall. Short and stubby, with its felt hat cocked to one side, the old troll had weathered, wrinkled skin and a large nose. Without saying a word, he looked right at me with a quizzical look! Part of Norwegian folklore, I would encounter a few more trolls in my travels, in the most unusual places!

Come explore the world-renowned majestic fjords and islands of Lofoten, from the misty seaport at Tromso, to the spectacular saw-toothed mountains at Reine. The stunning maritime museum and port at Bodo is next, then a rail journey south to historic Trondheim, with its colourful seamen’s homes lining the canals, and the spectacular 1000-year-old Nidaros Cathedral.

Through long tunnels and high alpine meadows, a road trip takes you to a charcoal black, 1000-year-old wooden Stave church once used by Vikings. The odyssey concludes at stunning Oslo, with its massive brick fortress, the 19th-century Royal Palace, plus many points in between.
