The Historic Old Montreal Photowalk

A rendezvous of photographers &
Nikonians at Le Vieux Port!
NEW! Saturday, July 26, 2025!

Bonjour! Bienvenue à Montréal! Hello! Welcome to Montreal!
My name is Frederic Hore (Voyageurfred - my Nikonians moniker) and I will be your leader and host.
It will be my pleasure to guide you on this marvellous Photowalk through the historical heart of the Le Vieux Port – the Old Port of Montreal. We will capture rustic century-old buildings, small chapels, a famous basilica, animated public squares with buskers, hidden courtyards unknown to the public, lovely cobblestone streets, and more.
Along the way, I will assist you with your compositions and exposures to help you create memorable and evocative images! Landscape, architecture and street photographers will revel in this unique workshop.
Itinerary
06:00 - 08:30 – For early risers, sunrise photography at Place Jacques Cartier, La Grande Roue (the Ferris Wheel) the Clock Tower at the harbour front, and the rustic stone buildings fronting rue de la Commune, to take advantage of the easterly morning light. Tourism maps provided to mark and follow our route!
Rendezvous point – Hôtel de Ville / Montreal City Hall at 275 Notre-Dame St East (second photo above)
09:00 - 10:00 - Pub Brewsky - Out of town arrivals can saunter in, joining the group here for beverages, snacks and pastries with some good conversations.
Location: 380 Saint Paul East, next to Marché Bonsecours (TBC)
10:00 - 13:00 - Photowalk on rue St Paul in the heart of Old Montreal and Le Vieux Port (Old Port).
13:00 - 14:30 - Lunch at Le Jardin Nelson, Place Jacques Cartier. Vegan-vegetarian dishes available. (TBC)
14:30 - 18:00 - Photowalk continues at select locations at Marché Bonsecours, Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel (the Sailors’ chapel), Notre Dame Basilica, historic stone homes and secret hidden courtyards unknown to most tourists. These locations will benefit from late afternoon light.
18:00 - 19:30 - Supper at L'Usine de Spaghetti/The Old Spaghetti Factory, 263 rue St Paul East.
19:30 - 21:00 - Evening photography on rue St Paul, the Clock Tower, and the lit up Marché Bonsecours (first photo above) for a different perspective.
21:00 - 22:30 - Rooftop Photography! with exceptional views of the harbourfront and rustic streets from my favourite haunt as the city slides into dusk, then blue hour. Tripods welcome! It's an excellent place to socialize with beverages and finger food before we wrap up and say... Au Revoir.
