Cruising aboard Quark Expeditions’ ship, Ultramarine, we had spent several days exploring serene and spectacular fjords in Svalbard, Norway's northernmost territory. Zodiac excursions transported us to a variety of remote historical sites and stunning wilderness points, observing skittish reindeer, basking walruses, and nesting guillemots. However, what everyone was excited to see was the apex predator and King of the Arctic... the polar bear!
